Tim L. O'Brien, The Historical Fiction Author
Tim L. O'Brien is a historical fiction author, crafting gripping tales of western noir—stories infused with dust, outlaw blood, and inescapable trouble. His writing resides at the intersection of thriller and frontier grit. Currently, he is working on his debut novel, Devil in the Dust. Tim was born in Oklahoma City and raised in Houston, TX. Tim has made Norman his home for over forty years and proudly identifies as an Okie. He earned a B.A. in Journalism (Radio/TV/Film) from the University of Oklahoma, where he also pursued graduate studies in the Professional Writing program. After a stint in OU's Sports Information Office, he ventured out independently, creating a diverse career that includes graphic design and publishing through Maverick Publications and Design, the Rancher-Farmer News, the independent label Remorseless Records, and MOB Talent Agency. Additionally, he owned and operated the Red Dirt Cafe on Campus Corner as well as other restaurants. The core of his work remains consistent: tell a compelling story, share it with an audience, and keep pushing forward. Tim also maintains a binder filled with songs he has written over the years and enjoys setting music to his lyrics. He is married with four children and loves to travel, particularly to Ireland and Scotland, all while writing from the red-dirt ground that shaped his life.
